59-year-old John Meyer dead, woman injured after a motorcycle crash in Barry County (Yankee Springs Township, MI)

Authorities identified 59-year-old John Meyer, from Caledonia, as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle collision that also injured his 69-year-old wife on Sunday afternoon in Barry County.

As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash happened near Gun Lake Road on Yankee Springs Road in Yankee Springs Township at approximately 1 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that the motorcycle was heading south on Yankee Springs Road when a Chrysler SUV tried to enter a parking lot without yielding the right of way. The SUV entered the motorcycle’s path, resulting in the collision.

The motorcyclist, identified as 59-year-old John Meyer, succumbed to his injuries after the accident. His 69-year-old passenger was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both the victims were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. At this time, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
