Authorities identified 58-year-old Richard Reed, of Madison, as the man who lost his life after being hit by a car while crossing the street on Saturday night.
The investigation reports showed that Richard Reed drove to the intersection of Neelys Bend Road and Larkin Springs Drive. Just then, an item fell out of his car, and he got out of his car to retrieve it. At that point of time, a Nissan Altima struck Reed, who was in the car’s lane of travel.
On arrival, paramedics immediately took Reed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities stated that the Altima driver did not show any signs of impairment and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
