58-year-old Renee Cox died after a single-vehicle accident on I-81 North (Fall Branch, TN)

On Sunday morning, 58-year-old Renee Cox, from Nashville, lost her life following a single-vehicle crash on I-81 North.

As per the initial information, the fatal incident took place at about 9:22 a.m. on I-81 North around mile marker 54 that led to the closure of left lane and shoulder. The preliminary investigation indicated that Cox was driving a 2016 Lexus ES when she drifted off the roadway, ran into the median and hit a tree for reasons that are yet to be known.

Cox was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Officials asked the motorists to expect delays and avoid the area. Authorities partially blocked I-81 North as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
