The accident happened at Devoy Avenue and north Hollywood Street at around 6:15 p.m.
The collision involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.
A 58-year-old man was hit by a vehicle, according to the officers.
The victim was transported to a Regional One for treatment.
He was declared dead later at the hospital by the authorities.
The responsible driver fled away from the scene.
It is unsure what caused the crash and how it happened.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the MPD.
