58-year-old Albert Richard Fields Jr. and Albert Richard Fields III dead in a crash (Constantine Township, MI)

Authorities identified 58-year-old Albert Richard Fields Jr. and 15-year-old Albert Richard Fields III, both of Middlebury, Indiana, as the victims who lost their lives following a traffic collision on Thursday in Constantine Township.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place at about 11:12 a.m. on U.S. 131, between Youngs Prairie Road and Quarterline Road. The preliminary investigation indicated that 30-year-old Fresno, California, driver was traveling south on U.S. 131 in a semitrailer. At some point of time, the pickup truck, driven north by Fields Jr., went over the road’s centerline and crashed head-on into the semitrailer.

The father and son riding in the pickup were declared dead at the scene by the officials. The semitrailer driver received only minimal injuries in the accident. U.S. 131 was shut down as crews worked at the scene, but was back open at approximately 5:55 p.m. No other details are made available.

An investigation is continuing.
