A 57-year-old woman lost her life after a traffic collision Tuesday morning in Sonora.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash took place at about 7:30 a.m. on Highway 108. The preliminary reports showed that a westbound 2020 Harley Davidson Street Glide attempted to pass a big rig on the left side, but ended up hitting a westbound 2019 Chevrolet Cruse. Due to the impact, the 57-year-old female motorcyclist was ejected into the roadway about 200 feet down an embankment.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Memorial Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. Both directions of Highway 108 were shut down while crews worked at the scene. The roadway has long since reopened. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be involved in the wreck. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
