57-year-old woman hospitalized after a head-on collision in Sterling Heights (Sterling Heights, MI)

A 57-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after a head-on collision Tuesday afternoon in Sterling Heights.

The preliminary reports showed that a 57-year-old female driver was traveling northbound on Hayes when she went over the center line and collided with a vehicle that was going southbound. The woman’s car rolled over due to the impact. On arrival, emergency personnel rescued and rushed her to a hospital for treatment.

Her current condition is unknown at this time. The other driver involved incurred only minor injuries. Authorities are still trying to ascertain what caused the woman to swerve into oncoming traffic. Hayes Rd. was shut down between 17 Mile and 18 Mile roads following the wreck, Tuesday afternoon, but reopened to traffic just before 5 p.m. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
