Authorities identified 57-year-old Petra Benitez-Vilchis as the pedestrian who died after a crash Sunday in South Los Angeles.
The fatal hit-and-run collision was reported at 9:08 p.m. Sunday in the area of Normandie Avenue and 59th Street. Benitez-Vilchis was declared dead at the scene by the officials. According to the coroner’s office, Benitez-Vilchis died of blunt force trauma. Her death was ruled an accident.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear at this time. No details have been provided regarding the suspect or the hit-and-run vehicle.
