Authorities identified 57-year-old Joseph Raines and 56-year-old Dongmei Raines, both from Arkansas, as the victims who lost their lives following a rear-end crash on Sunday in East Texas.
The fatal two-vehicle collision took place at 4:55 p.m. on Interstate 30, approximately 16 miles west of New Boston, Texas. According to the investigation reports, a pickup truck, in which the two victims were riding, slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 30.
The occupants of the pickup, Joseph Raines and Dongmei Raines, were declared dead at the scene by the officials. Reports further added that a 2021 Kenworth was stopped in traffic due to another accident when a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 being driven by Joseph Raines failed to yield and rear-ended the big rig’s trailer.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, 65-year-old Linda Hardy, of Mena, Ark., and her passenger, 55-year-old Jeffery Hardy, also of Mena, remained unharmed in the accident. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
