On Monday, a 56-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the Pomona Freeway in Jurupa Valley.
The man was identified as Santos Alvarez,56, a resident of Moreno Valley. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on the eastbound 60, west of Valley way, at about 4:20 a.m.
The chain crash started when a Dodge charger and a Chrysler minivan pulling a trailer collided and stopped at the lanes, said Sgt. Scott Stoos. Later, Alvarez’s Nissan Altima struck the minivan and damaged the Sedan.
The victim was pronounced dead by the Riverside County Fire department. The condition of other victims is unidentified.
All eastbound lanes were shut down for two hours following the crash.
