A 56-year-old Prairieville man lost his life following a two-vehicle crash in Gonzales.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash took place on La. 44 at around 5:30 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that the motorcyclist was heading south on a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster when he did not stop in time and rear-ended a 2010 GMC Sierra. The driver of the Sierra was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and did not receive any injuries as a result of the accident.
The motorcycle rider suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. He was wearing an approved helmet at that time. The authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin. Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
