56-year-old Penny Thomas succumbs to her injuries after a crash in LaPlace (LaPlace, LA)

Authorities identified 56-year-old Penny Thomas as the woman who died of injuries she suffered after a vehicle struck a trailer where she was living on Cambridge Drive in LaPlace.

The fatal motor vehicle accident took place on Friday, January 21, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m. According to the investigation reports, Penny Thomas was inside the trailer at the time of the collision. On arrival, paramedics rushed Thomas to a New Orleans hospital with serious injuries.

Officials reported that she succumbed to her injuries on January 25. The driver has not been identified at this time. Toxicology samples from the driver were obtained and submitted for analysis. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under review.
