54-Year-Old Paul A. Antonio Died In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Tucson (Tucson, AZ)

The Tucson Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened at around 2:45 p.m.

A Chevrolet Colorado struck a bicycle, which was moving eastbound on 29th St. in the curb lane, as he crossed the street from north to south. The adult male bicyclist, identified by police as 54-year-old Paul A. Antonio, passed away at the scene.

The Chevrolet Colorado clearly exceeded the speed limit of 35 MPH. Antonio was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, 40-year-old James Lee Sorg, was found to be impaired by alcohol and drugs at the time of the collision. 

According to police, the fatal crash was primarily caused by speeding and drunk driving. Sorg was arrested and lodged in the Pima County Jail on one count of manslaughter.
