Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety have stated that troopers are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a 53-year-old woman from Orange. The incident is reported to have taken place along Texas Highway 62 north of Mauriceville on Monday morning.
Preliminary investigations on the motor vehicle accident by Troopers show that Gillespie was driving a Ford SUV north along Texas highway 62. At the same time, a Ford pickup was headed south. The pickup reportedly crossed over into the northbound lanes and struck the SUV.
Gillespie was pronounced dead at the scene by a Newton County justice of the peace.
The incident is still currently under investigation.
