53-year-old Stacy William Lewis dead after a single-vehicle crash in Dawson County (Dawson County, GA)

On Tuesday evening, 53-year-old Stacy William Lewis, a Dawsonville man, lost his life while his 10-year-old grandson suffered injuries following a traffic collision on Afton Road.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident took place shortly before 6 p.m. on Afton Road near Amicalola Church Road in Dawson County. The preliminary investigation revealed that Stacy William Lewis was heading north on Afton Road in Dawson County when he tried to negotiate a sharp curve to the right. Just then, his Chevy 2500 pickup truck swerved in the opposite direction.

The vehicle then went over the center line, drifted off the roadway to the left, and went down an embankment. The truck hit a tree on the driver’s side and Lewis died from his injuries at the scene. On arrival, medics transported his 10-year-old grandson to Egleston Hospital with non-critical injuries. It is unknown why the truck swerved across the opposite lanes.

An investigation is ongoing.
