53-year-old Michelle D Gilbertsen died in a motorcycle crash in Buckley (Buckley, WA)

On Saturday afternoon, 53-year-old Michelle D Gilbertsen, a resident of Bonney Lake, lost her life after skidding her motorcycle off State Route 410 near downtown Buckley.

The fatal incident took place at about 1 p.m. near the intersection with 262nd Avenue, about one mile west of the Sumner-Buckley Highway. As per the reports, Gilbertsen, who was wearing a helmet, seemed to have rolled into a ditch while heading westbound on State Route 410.

According to the responding officers, she was possibly not speeding but might have applied a little bit too much gas as she turned. A Washington State Patrol memo later confirmed that speed has played a factor in the accident whereas drugs or alcohol were not involved.

Gilbertsen succumbed to her injuries at the crash scene. Her daughter has been notified, officials said. Westbound traffic was redirected to 262nd Street, returning to State Route 410 at 254th St., for two hours and forty minutes on Saturday.

An investigation is ongoing.
