53-year-old man dead after a two-vehicle collision in Tacoma (Tacoma, WA)

On early Monday, a 53-year-old man lost his life following a two-vehicle accident in Tacoma.

The fatal car crash was reported on Portland Avenue at 4:11 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a driver in a silver Sedan traveling south on Portland ignored a red light at East 44th Street and crashed into a white SUV that was turning. The driver that ran the red light, a 53-year-old man, died of his injuries after the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle and their passenger incurred only minor injuries. Both directions of Portland Avenue were shut down between East 44th Street and East 46th Street as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
