53-year-old Darin Johns, Marc Elbert Boswell, and Nathan Haile killed in a wrong-way crash (Big Spring, TX)

Authorities identified 53-year-old Darin Johns, the high school band director, Marc Elbert Boswell, and Nathan Haile as the three male victims who were killed following a wrong-way accident Friday in West Texas.

The preliminary reports showed that the school bus was taking members of the Andrews High School band to a football playoff game when they were struck by a pickup truck going the wrong way on Interstate 20.

On Saturday, authorities confirmed that the band’s director, 53-year-old Darin Johns, succumbed to his injuries. Bus driver, identified as Marc Elbert Boswell and the pickup truck driver, identified as Nathan Haile, were also killed in the fiery accident.

Two of the 25 students on the bus were also taken to hospital in critical, but stable condition. It is still not known why Haile was traveling the wrong way. The football playoff will continue despite the tragedy with Andrews High playing Springtown Monday afternoon in Sweetwater. The Sweetwater High band will step in and perform the Andrews band. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
