52-year-old Francisco Camaja-Taperia, of Madison, lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Saturday in Goodlettsville.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place in the 1300 block of South Dickerson Pike at 6:45 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 17-year-old man was driving a Toyota Camry when it swerved off the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver’s father, Francisco Camaja-Taperia, who was in the back seat struck the windshield as he was not buckled up at the time of the collision. He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
A front seat passenger did not suffer any serious injuries in the accident. The driver and the front seat passenger were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at that time. According to the officers, the driver admitted to drinking prior to the crash and smelled strongly of alcohol. He is booked into juvenile detention and faces charges of driving without a license and vehicular assault, officials reported. No further details have been released by the authorities.
The incident remains under investigation.
