51-year-old Paul Chevalier dead after a wrong-way crash on U.S. Hwy 90 (Lafayette, LA)

On Monday, 51-year-old Paul Chevalier, a resident of Lafayette, lost his life following a head-on crash on U.S. Hwy 90.

The fatal car crash took place just before 3:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 90, close to Louisiana Highway 24. The early reports showed that Chevalier was driving a 2007 Dodge Charger east in the westbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 90. Just then, the Dodge crashed head-on into a westbound Ford pickup in the left lane of U.S. Hwy 90. Chevalier was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

He received major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver and passenger of the Ford were also wearing their seatbelts at that time. The driver of the Ford was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries whereas the passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A toxicology sample was taken from both drivers and submitted for analysis. No further details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
