According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported in San Pedro. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident. Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Pacific Avenue, south of Channel Street.
A cyclist was riding northbound when a Toyota Scion rear-ended him. The cyclist was identified as 51-year-old Oscar Montaya. Montaya was knocked into the air, onto the vehicle’s roof, and then thrown back onto the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
Other details pertaining to the bicycle accident remain unknown.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
