51-year-old James Larry Roberts killed after a head-on crash east of Milano (Milano, TX)

Authorities identified 51-year-old James Larry Roberts, from Austin, as the man who lost his life following a head-on crash Wednesday east of Milano.

The fatal car collision took place on US 79, approximately a mile east of Milano. Crews actively responded to the scene at about 9:00 p.m. in response to a wreck involving a truck tractor and an SUV.

The investigation reports showed that a 2007 Freightliner driven by a 44-year-old man from Nuevo Leon, Mexico was heading eastbound on US 79. At that same time, James Larry Roberts was driving a 2015 Honda Pilot SUV westbound on US 79.

For undetermined reasons, the Honda veered into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into the Freightliner. Roberts was declared dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott. The next of kin has been informed. No other information is available.

An investigation is continuing.
