According to the Chula Vista Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday in Chula Vista. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred in front of the Bayfront/E Street Trolley Station. The driver of a Honda going westbound, veered into an eastbound left-turn lane. As a result of this, it struck an oncoming Nissan sedan head-on.
The driver of the Honda, identified as a 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the Nissan was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Other information including the identity of the deceased person was yet to be determined.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CVPD. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
