According to the California Highway Patrol, a motor vehicle accident occurred in Fairfield on Tuesday.
The crash happened in the 1900 block of Grande Circle at around 4:36 p.m.
According to the police, the girl was hit by an unknown vehicle. A 5-year-old child suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision.
The identity of the deceased victim was not revealed by the California Highway Patrol.
Some portions of the Grande Circle are blocked for further investigation.
The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
