5-year-old boy dead after an ATV crash in Lake Havasu City (Lake Havasu City, AZ)

On Saturday, a 5-year-old boy lost his life following an ATV crash in Lake Havasu City.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of the 7500 block of N Sky View Dr. in Havasu Heights at about 1:49 p.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle accident. The preliminary investigation revealed that there might have been an issue with the vehicle’s throttle and that it would seem it was stuck open, leaving the boy unable to stop.

According to the officials, a family member, who was driving a second ATV, tried to pull the boy off the vehicle but failed to do so. The ATV crashed into a residential fence, before hitting a wall. The boy was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
