Authorities identified 49-year-old Francisca Delems as the victim who suffered injuries following a head-on collision that also injured several others on Monday night in Ione.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place at about 11:08 p.m. on State Route 88 near Eggimm Lane. The preliminary investigation indicated that a westbound vehicle swerved towards the eastbound lanes and crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle. According to the officers, 7 people received minor to major injuries as a result of the accident.
One of the victims was identified as 49-year-old Francisca Delems, a passenger of a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. All occupants of both vehicles were reportedly buckled up at the time of the collision. Cassandra Suarez was taken into custody and booked into the Amador County Jail for driving under the influence. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
