According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash occurred on Highway 68 near Spreckels Boulevard on Saturday.
The officials stated that 48-year-old Salinas man was killed after a black 2022 BMW crashed head-on with a Toyota Camry. The crash happened when the BMW crossed from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes.
The Salinas man was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials. A passenger in the Toyota Camry was rushed to the hospital for major injuries.
The driver of the BMW, identified as 40-year-old Danial John Wetle of Marina suffered minor injuries.
The California Highway Patrol have arrested Wetle for driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
No further information is available regarding the identity of the passenger in the Toyota Camry or the condition of the patient.
The CHP are investigating the motor vehicle accident.
