On Thursday morning, 48-year-old Kenneth J Mayeaux, Jr, of Westwego, lost his life following a two-vehicle accident on Westbank Expressway.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place on US 90B near Westwood Drive in Marrero. The preliminary investigation indicated that Mayeaux was driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra west on US 90B. When the car approached the intersection, it entered the left turning lane and continued straight across Westwood Drive before the front of the vehicle hit a traffic control signal support.
Mayeaux was not buckled up at the time of the collision. He suffered major injuries and was declared deceased at the scene by the officials. Impairment on the part of Mayeaux is unclear, but routine toxicology results are pending. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
