Police responded to a deadly two-vehicle crash on SR-112/ Clarksville Pike at 5 a.m. on Thursday in Joelton.
According to the police, Lonnie Nicholson III, 47, of Goodlettsville, was traveling north. For unknown reasons, his 2005 Honda Civic crossed over the double yellow lines and struck a 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
Nicholson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jeep driver was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
A routine toxicology sample was collected and sent for analysis.
The southbound Clarksville highway was shut down following the investigations. Further details relating to the crash were not provided by the officials.
