46-year-old Shem Munroe died after a head-on crash in Coryell County (Gatesville, TX)

Authorities identified 46-year-old Shem Munroe, from Medford, N.Y., as the victim who was killed after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Coryell County.

The fatal car accident took place on Farm-to-Market 929 north of Gatesville. The preliminary investigation showed that the GMC, being driven by an unidentified 58-year-old man from Gatesville, was heading northbound on FM 929 when the driver reportedly fell asleep, crossing into the southbound lane where it collided with Munroe’s Chevrolet Equinox head-on.

Shem Munroe was declared deceased by Justice of the Peace Coy Latham. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Coryell Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. No further details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
