Authorities identified 45-year-old Kimberly Stanton, of Holden, as the woman who lost her life following a pedestrian crash on Sunday night in Livingston Parish.
As per the initial information, the fatal incident happened at milepost 27 and members of the Louisiana State Police arrived on scene at about 7 p.m. Kimberly Stanton was killed after being hit by a 2018 Hyundai Sonata while she was trying to cross I-12 East. The preliminary investigation showed that the 45-year-old woman was going eastbound on I-12 before the accident happened. A 2018 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling in the same direction struck Stanton when she attempted to cross I-12 East.
The 45-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the Sonata was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and did not receive any injuries. Investigators are awaiting toxicology results from the pedestrian who died and the driver of the Hyundai Sonata. No other details are available.
An investigation continues.
