44-Year-Old Erik Lagunas Killed In A Motor Vehicle Accident In Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ)

Local police authorities reported a motor vehicle accident in Phoenix on February 5. The crash occurred around 2 p.m. near 23rd and Fillmore streets. 

According to reports, calls flooded in for authorities about a car colliding into an electrical pole, causing power lines to collapse. Concurrently, Phoenix police responded to reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers faced difficulty reaching the driver due to live power lines. Once Arizona Public Service intervened, authorities discovered the driver, identified as 44-year-old Erik Lagunas. The victim was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sequence of events leading to the fatal crash and shooting remains unclear. Although a man suspected to be involved in the shooting was initially detained, police later released him. There are no other details available at this time.
