Officials identified 42-year-old Jacob Gray, of Cedar Park, as the man who lost his life following a rear-end crash early Thursday morning in Denton.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle collision took place on Interstate 35 East near North Texas Boulevard moments before 1:45 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that the driver of Ford F-150 rear-ended an 18-wheeler stopped in traffic on I-35. 42-year-old Jacob Gray, who was the sole occupant of the pickup truck, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
He was the resident of Cedar Park, which is a suburb of northwest Austin. As of 1 p.m. Thursday, the examiner listed his death as an accident caused by blunt force injuries. The driver of semi-truck did not receive any injuries as a result of the collision. All of the highway’s northbound lanes south of North Texas Boulevard were closed for a few hours as crews worked at scene.
The lanes were back open by 11 a.m., officials said. Southbound lanes remained open, and all northbound traffic was rerouted to the northbound service road at Bonnie Brae Street. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
