41-year-old man dead after being hit twice on Interstate 5 (Federal Way, WA)

On early Saturday morning, a 41-year-old-man lost his life after being hit by two vehicles on Interstate 5.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash happened at about 3 a.m. at State Route 18, north of Federal Way. The preliminary investigation indicated that a Lyft driver had picked up the wrong passenger from Cheers Bar and Grill. Moments later, the man started acting unruly and started to take off his clothes.

The Lyft driver stopped the vehicle on the freeway’s right shoulder. The passenger then came out of the rideshare vehicle, stood in the far left lane and walked into the adjacent lane. A northbound vehicle attempted to avoid hitting the man, but the vehicle ended up striking the man and the rideshare vehicle.

After that, another northbound vehicle hit the man. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials shut down the roadway for over three hours as crews worked at the scene. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
