40-year-old woman killed after a three-vehicle pile-up in Federal Way (Federal Way, WA)

On Sunday evening, a 40-year-old woman was killed following a multi-vehicle accident in Federal Way.

As per the initial information, the fatal three-vehicle pile-up was reported on northbound I-5 near 304th Street just after 7 p.m. The early reports showed that a Dodge Ram driven by a woman struck a Mazda Protege while switching lanes and began to spin. The Dodge Ram then collided with a Kia Forte before those two vehicles veered off the freeway.

The woman who led to the crash was thrown from their vehicle and died at the scene. They were not buckled up at the time of the wreck. The driver of the Kia Forte was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unspecified injuries. Drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. At least two northbound lanes of I-5 were blocked for multiple hours before reopening just after midnight. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
