40-year-old Edward Muse died after a two-vehicle collision in Cass County (Cass County, MI)

On Thursday afternoon, 40-year-old Edward Muse lost his life following a two-vehicle accident in Cass County.

As per the initial information, Edward Muse, of Dowagiac, was traveling along Dailey Road, north of Curtis Drive in Cass County at around 4:10 p.m. The Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department reported that Muse tried to pass a car driven by a 73-year-old Elkhart man that was in the opposing lane.

Muse failed to safely pass that vehicle. Just then, his vehicle hit the front of the Elkhart man’s vehicle as he reentered his lane. He failed to maintain control of his car and struck a tree. Muse was pinned inside his car due to the impact. On arrival, emergency responders extricated him from the vehicle.

Edwardsburg Ambulance Service and Med Flight provided medical aid to him but the he died of his injuries at the scene. A 17-year-old passenger in Muse’s car was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital with non-critical injuries. The Elkhart man remained uninjured.

The incident remains under investigation.
