Authorities identified 39-year-old Misty Holley as the woman who lost her life after the Uber she was riding in was struck from behind over the weekend.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place on early Saturday. The investigation reports showed that Misty Holley was a passenger in a Mitsubishi Lancer, when the vehicle began to have mechanical problems in a moving lane of traffic on the Southwest Freeway, near Newcastle.
While the vehicle was stalled on the freeway, a truck crashed into the rear of the car. Misty Holley, who was in the backseat of the car, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. It was reported that Misty Holly worked as a security guard at the Point Aquarius gated community on Lake Conroe.
The 50-year-old identified himself as an Uber driver. He had broken ribs and was shifted to a hospital. The 30-year-old driver of the truck that rear-ended the sedan was unharmed and remained at the scene. He was not charged. No other details are available.
The incident remains under investigation.
