According to the Austin Police Department, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Austin. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motorcycle accident.

Authorities stated that the collision occurred in the 500 block of East Slaughter Lane. An SUV and a motorcycle collided with each other. 

The motorcyclist was identified as 39-year-old Benjamin Garcia. Garcia was transported to a local hospital sustaining serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the SUV was not injured as a result of the wreck. Other insights pertaining to the collision are yet to be determined.

The crash continues to be investigated by the APD. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
