38-year-old man dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in Turlock; Maiyra Rodriguez involved (Turlock, CA)

A 38-year-old man lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Turlock.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place just before 2:00 a.m. on West Main Street and Crows Landing Road. The preliminary reports showed that a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Maiyra Rodriguez, from Winton, hit a man in the eastbound lane of West Main Street. Rodriguez said that she did not notice the 38-year-old man on the road.

After the accident, she stopped and called 911 for help. On arrival, responders began performing CPR on the pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered a massive head trauma and did not have a pulse. The man later died of his injuries. It is currently unknown if the pedestrian was trying to cross the street or was walking or standing in the traffic lane when the incident happened. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
