38-year-old Kenneth Edward Wassennar II dead after being struck by 3 hit-and-run motorists in Fullerton (Fullerton, CA)

Authorities identified 38-year-old Kenneth Edward Wassennar II as the homeless man who lost his life early Monday morning after getting struck by two cars and an SUV that all left the scene in Fullerton.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run collision took place at 1:30 a.m. on Harbor Boulevard and Southgate Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that Wassennar was pushing a shopping cart westbound across Harbor Boulevard in the north crosswalk against the red light when he was hit by a southbound white Dodge Charger that had the green light.

The driver of that car drove away from the scene after the crash. Within seconds, the victim was hit again by a black Jeep Wrangler, and that driver also left the scene. About two minutes later, a white Honda two-door Civic hit the victim and also fled the scene.

On arrival, first responders rushed Wassennar to a trauma center where he was declared dead. Harbor Boulevard was closed down between Orangethorpe and Knepp avenues while crews worked at the scene. No further details are available.

The incident remains under review.
