Louisiana State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash that claimed a life. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 71.
The crash claimed the life of 38-year-old Benjamin Lee Adams.
According to LSP, Lee Adams died when a car in the opposite lane of U.S. Highway 71 tried to pass an 18-wheeler but slammed head-on slammed into Lee Adam’s car.
Authorities said Adams was not restrained during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office.
The other car driver wore a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries from the crash.
According to LSP spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen, Adams did not have his headlight on during the crash. A routine toxicology sample was obtained and sent for analysis.
An investigation into the crash is under review.
