A double semi collision happened as a result of a jackknifed semi truck blocking US 97.
A semi-truck traveling north on US 97 jackknifed into the southbound lane at MP 183 at around 11:16 a.m.
Soon after, a second semi traveling south struck the stationary semi.
Daniel Powells, a 37-year-old Sacramento, California, semi-truck driver, lost control on an icy road.
After being taken to Cascade Medical Center, Powells received a ticket for driving too quickly.
Harmanjot Grewal, a 23-year-old California resident driving the second semi, was unharmed.
The highway was shut down for more than three hours.
