36-year-old man dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)

A 36-year-old Long Beach man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle Sunday in Long Beach.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on Atlantic Avenue near 19th Street. The preliminary reports showed that a female resident of Long Beach was driving a 2014 Honda northbound on Atlantic Avenue, north of 19th Street. At that point of time, the pedestrian was crossing westbound in lanes of traffic outside of a crosswalk.

The driver failed to stop in time and ended up hitting the pedestrian. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and was questioned by officers. Her name was not revealed. As of now, distracted driving, impaired driving, and speed are not believed to be involved in the collision. No other details are available.

The accident remains under investigation.
