Authorities identified 36-year-old Jose Ramirez as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision early Tuesday morning on North Side.
The fatal single-vehicle accident took place near Patricia Drive and Belair Drive a little before 2:30 a.m. According to the investigation reports, Jose Ramirez was driving a pickup truck southeast on Patricia when his vehicle struck a median and he failed to maintain control.
After that, the truck slammed into a pole and spun onto Belair Drive. On arrival, firefighters attempted to extricate the man from the truck. They cut the roof off the vehicle and tried to take the man out of the vehicle.
The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The incident did not lead to any other injuries. Officials stated that speed likely played a factor in the accident. Multiple agencies responded to the scene. No other information has been provided.
The incident remains under review.
