Authorities identified 35-year-old Jon Davies, of Gonzales, as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision on Friday in Prairieville.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place shortly before 10 p.m. on LA Hwy 73, south of US Hwy 31 in Ascension Parish. The preliminary investigation showed that Davis was heading north on LA Hwy 73 in a 1991 GMC Sierra. For undetermined reasons, the GMC veered off the road and struck a utility pole.
Davies was ejected from the vehicle as he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Davies for analysis. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
