Authorities identified 35-year-old Edith Moreno-Colin, of Redmond, as the woman who lost her life following a traffic collision that also injured five other people on State Route 14 in Kennewick.
The fatal two-vehicle crash took place a little before 4:30 a.m. on Plymouth Rd, just 19 miles Southwest of Kennewick near Interstate 82. According to the investigation reports, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Gabriela Moreno-Colin, of Bellevue, was heading southbound on Plymouth Rd when the driver ran a stop sign.
The vehicle then crashed into another vehicle that was going eastbound on State Route 14. 35-year-old Edith Moreno-Colin, who was a passenger in Moreno-Colin’s vehicle, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. She was reportedly buckled up at the time of the accident. Officers found five people with serious injuries and they were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
The cause of the collision was failure to yield right of way and no charges have been filed against Moreno-Colin. The highway was blocked for a few hours as crews worked at the scene, but was back open at approximately 8:30 a.m. No other details are made available.
The crash remains under review.
