The New Mexico State Police reported a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday early morning. The accident happened on State Road 39 early northwest of Logan.

35-year-old Cesar Gomez Lucio struck a 2014 Toyota Sienna van head-on while operating a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on SR 39 after crossing the centerline into opposing traffic.

Hobbs was pronounced dead at the scene. The 2014 Toyota Sienna’s driver, four additional adult passengers, and four other passengers were all treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to NMSP.

Gomez Lucio was not buckled up, and it appears that alcohol played a role. The fatal crash is being investigated by the police. No other details regarding the crash are not available currently.
