The New Mexico State Police reported a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday morning. The accident happened on State Route 39 close to Milepost 32 at around 1 a.m.
A Chevy Tahoe crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic while travelling south on the road. According to NMSP, it crashed into a Toyota van, head-on.
Cesar Gomez Lucio, 35, of Hobbs, who was driving the Tahoe, was killed in the collision. The conditions of the Toyota’s driver, four passengers, and four other people who were treated for injuries deemed not life-threatening are currently unknown.
