35-year-old Andrew Warner Barone died after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 101 in Marin County (Mill Valley, CA)

On Monday, authorities identified 35-year-old Andrew Warner Barone, from Lockport, New York, as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle Sunday night while he was walking on U.S. Highway 101 in Mill Valley.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place on Highway 101 in Marin County. The early reports showed that multiple callers, including the driver of the vehicle involved reported the incident just before 10 p.m. in the southbound lanes close to the Seminary Drive off-ramp.

The CHP announced a SigAlert at 10:18 p.m. closing lanes 1, 2 and 3 of the southbound highway, and reopened them by 11:58 p.m. It is unknown why he was walking on the freeway. No other information is available.

An investigation is ongoing.
