Authorities identified 33-year-old Kirsten L Kotz, from Spanaway, as the woman who lost her life following a rollover crash on Wednesday night near Easton.
The fatal single-vehicle accident took place on Interstate 90 near Kachess Lake Road at about 6:39 p.m. According to the investigation reports, the driver was traveling east on I-90 through Easton with her 7-year-old son. For unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved off the roadway and hit a cement barrier to the right of the roadway.
After that, the woman attempted to re-enter the roadway and flipped across each lane of the roadway, coming to a stop in the left lane. On arrival, emergency responders tried to revive the woman, but she was later declared dead. Medical personnel transported the 7-year-old boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for emergency treatment.
The current condition of the child has not been provided at this time. After her next of kin was notified by the Kittitas County Coroner’s Office, the woman was identified as Kirsten L Kotz. The boy’s name is being withheld out of respect and privacy for their family. Eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were fully closed near Easton for around two hours and 47 minutes on Wednesday night as crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.
The crash remains under review.
